Eyelashes are undoubtedly one of the best things that have ever happened to web browsers. Currently it is almost unimaginable to think about using a browser that does not implement them in one way or another. They allow us to have multiple sites and web applications open in a single window and find them in a more organized and simple way than if each one were separated.
Although the tabs are not exclusive to browsers and there are many types of programs that use them, it is something that we could take advantage of absolutely all the applications we use to keep our work area organized. This is where tools such as TidyTabs come in, a window manager for Windows that adds tabs to absolutely everything.
It works in a very simple way. TidyTabs adds an invisible tab to the upper left of absolutely every window of your applications. When you hover over the mouse, you can see the tab. You can drag that tab of any window and group it with other windows of the same application, or even with the windows of other applications.
It’s a great way to group multiple Office documents in one window, whether they are Word, Excel or even the file explorer window. If there are applications where you would never need tabs and you do not want them to appear, you can exclude them from TidyTabs.
You also have several customization options that allow you to edit both the behavior and the appearance of the tabs. The memory consumption of TidyTabs is also minimal, if you were concerned about that aspect. It’s our test does not even reach 3 MB of RAM.
TidyTabs is designed to be compatible with all versions of Windows, from 7 to Windows 10, on both 32-bit and 64-bit systems. It has both a free and a paid version. The limitations of the freeware version are a few, you can only group three windows and it does not let you reorganize or rename the tabs. The good thing is that the paid version only asks for a single payment of $ 9 instead of a monthly subscription.
The premium version has a ridiculous trial period of 60 minutes, each user will decide if it seems sufficient to pay for it. However, the free one could be used with its limitations and still be useful. It’s still an interesting way to organize the windows and eliminate some noise from our work area.
